Recipe: Lizi's Fruity Granola Bars

The beauty of this recipe from Lizi's is its versatility — pretty much anything goes! The list of ingredients below is a guideline — feel free to substitute your favourite dried fruits, nuts and seeds, or simply use up whatever is lying in your cupboard. And don't forget there's wide range of granolas to choose from as well!


  • 100g unsalted butter
  • 3 tbsp honey
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 200g Granola
  • 50g sunflower seeds
  • 50g pecan nuts (chopped)
  • 100g dried fruit (e.g. cranberries/raisins)
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 50g chopped chocolate (if you're feeling decadent)

1 Heat the oven to 160C/fan 140C/gas 3.

2 Butter and line a 20cm x 20cm baking dish or tin.

3 Heat the butter, honey and sugar in a large saucepan, stirring until the butter is melted.

4 Add the granola, seeds, nuts, dried fruit and chocolate if using and stir until combined.

5 Tip into the tin and press down lightly until even, then bake for 25 mins or until golden on top.

6 Cool in tin, then cut into 12 squares. If you don’t cool it before cutting, it will be less of a bar and more of a crumble.
