Recipe: Cacao, Clementine & Pistachio Energy Balls

These zesty cacao energy balls are a great source of protein and slow-release energy, perfect for when you're craving something sweet! Thanks to Aduna for sharing this recipe with us. Aduna's gentle roasting process ensures that their cacao powder retains at least eight times more flavanol (the nutrient found in cacao that is scientifically proven to promote healthy blood circulation) than regular cacao powder. Delicious and good for you? It's almost too good to be true! Whip up a batch of these energy balls and store them in the fridge for when you need an energy boost.

  • 4 tbsp Aduna Super-Cacao Powder
  • 2 cups pitted dates (soaked in warm water)
  • 1 cup pistachios de-shelled

1 In a food processor, blend the pistachios into a coarse flour. Remove half of the crushed pistachios and place into a flat bowl for decorating later.

2 Add the sunflower seeds to the food processor and continue to pulse for 2 minutes.

3 Zest the 2 clementines then slice in half and juice one.

4 Add the zest and juice along with all the other ingredients and blend until everything is sticky and combined (you may need to scrape down the bowl of the food processor a few times).

5 Remove the mixture to a bowl. Roll balls out of the mixture with your hands then roll in the reserved chopped pistachios.

6 Place in the freezer for 30 minutes to set, then store in the fridge in a sealed container ready for your when you need an energy boost.
